Tracking conditions in D&D can slow down the game, but they’re a core part of playing D&D. Characters become frightened, stunned, and many more conditions native to the rules. It’s easy to forget what’s affecting which characters on the miniature map. This problem is especially true at higher levels of play. Seasoned adventurers experience chaotic combat with many details to track. That’s why I was excited to try out the D&D Condition Rings from Wasted Wizard. They’re a collection of miniature-tailored rings designed to simplify condition tracking.
How to Use D&D Condition Rings
These condition rings stack neatly around standard miniature sizes, letting you place conditions directly on the affected creature. Characters and monsters commonly carry multiple conditions at a time, so the stackable nature of these rings is helpful.
Each ring features clear labels for common conditions, such as paralyzed and prone. They include more specific gameplay states, including Barbarian Rage, the Bane spell, and the Bless spell, which impresses me. I often track conditions mentally or with notes on my laptop. Having dedicated rings that the players can help me apply and remove is a load off my mind.
Are These Condition Rings Good Fits for All Groups?
Now, full disclosure: I don’t use traditional miniatures. My table is a menagerie of random toys, poker chips, and whatever objects I can repurpose. Because of that, these condition rings don’t always sit as neatly as they would with standard minis. In the image below, you can see that they sit well on the hold Hero Clicks I use, and that worked fine for my group. They’re still very useful, even if the presentation is a little less flashy. Whether around a base, next to a figure, or stacked nearby, each ring’s information is clear and consistently visible, which is what matters.
One particularly nice touch is that the rings come with felt stickers you can apply to the bottom. This helps them glide smoothly across battle maps and makes them easier to pick up (much easier than picking up a coin on a wooden table). Applying the felt does take a bit of time, especially with multiple rings, but you can do it once and then that assembly is done. You can even ask your players to work on the stickers during gameplay as a passive fidget. This makes the rings feel particularly polished and premium.
The rings are also color-coded, which doesn’t fully shine on day one but becomes increasingly useful over time. As your group gets used to them, those colors become quick visual shorthand, recognizing conditions at a glance without even reading the text. That kind of visual clarity is exactly what you want in the middle of a tense combat round.

Overall, the Wasted Wizard condition rings are a smart accessory collection that solves a real D&D problem. Even with my unconventional miniatures, these condition rings earned a spot at my table, and I can easily see them being indispensable for groups using standard minis.
