As the drinks empty and the conviviality fades, the door of the inn flies open. Blustering whirls of snow immediately chill the room. The storm has begun.
Ending a tour of exhaustive travel, your adventuring party crests a frosty hill with the rising sun, an icy gust brushing their cheeks as the fog from the hollow below creeps atop the slope. Down the hill, eastward bound, lighted hearths twinkle through the morning fog. Through a soft flurry in the air, your party spots a dilapidated wooden sign beside the dirt path that names this traveler’s town Bonescrag.

My first character was an Arcane Trickster, and he’s still one of my favorite characters I’ve ever played. I started out with the D&D Next play-test material, which did not have an Arcane Trickster option. I planned to multiclass as a Wizard because I always thought that was a cool option in Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn. But when D&D 5e officially released, I was ecstatic to see the Arcane Trickster option added, so I worked with my DM to rework my character to use the subclass (and also use the sweet Variant Human race option).

Rogues are the essential rapscallions of D&D, inspiring keen players to wreak mischief and trickery on short-sighted plans. Though I love Rogues unconditionally, I must evaluate each of Rogue subclass to rate them.
The concept of a Rogue that specializes in mounted combat seems compelling and fun to play. There is a bit of synergy between Rogues and mounted combat rules as well. Mounts deserve more attention in D&D because they’re so useful.
